Winter Trail Conditions

Updated 3/8/24

The snow is gone from our trails, leaving muddy and swampy conditions. The trails are open for hiking, offering a unique look at the forest floor this time of year. Best conditions will be found in the morning when the weather is coldest. We will continue to groom the trails for fatbike and snowshoeing as conditions permit.

All trails are: OPEN

The Southern (Winter) Entrance to the Sunstein Road Unit is CLOSED for the season.

GROOMED TRAIL ETIQUETTE

Lots of different types of people use our trails for different sports. Please be courteous and friendly when you meet other visitors within the park units. Additional considerations:

  1. Avoid walking with boots on the groomed trail, it punches holes in the snowpack making it difficult to ski or fatbike.

  2. Trail traffic should yield to the least maneuverable user. Fatbikers should yield to snowshoers, both should yield to skiers.

  3. Report any trees down or other trail maintenance needed to Tara Lila staff as soon as possible.

  4. Enjoy the Northwoods winter!
